YOU WERE BORN WITH WINGS, WHY PREFER TO CRAWL THROUGH LIFE?

   ~RUMI

Fantasy does not exist purely in books. It lives and breathes as we do, in the world we experience moment by moment. Through art, we transform these experiences into stories writ large. In sharing them, we share a part of ourselves. We inspire and are inspired in turn.

The exchange isn't effortless. It is surreal, scary, and yet, extraordinary. Like fairytales. Like the stuff of fantasy itself.

Through art, we take flight on wings of our own creation.

About the Artist

Beenish Khan has been drawing since she could hold crayons. She would have started sooner, but paraffin wax and pigment don't go together with baby formula. Her strongest artistic influence was an illustrated hardcover of J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan." Since then, she has spent her childhood (and most of her adulthood) sword-fighting pirates, chasing fairies, and dreaming of a Neverland all her own.

Beenish draws inspiration from nature, and from stories in all forms (gothic, sci-fi, high fantasy). She has a special fondness for Grimm Brothers fables, and their adult flipside, where the dark and fantastical converge.

Her preferred mediums are oil pastel, acrylic, pencil and digital art. She is currently available for private commissions.
